What this actually costs

Most firms in this field will not give you a number until you have sat through a meeting. Here is every price we charge, what moves it up or down, and what a job at each price contains — so you can work out whether to call before you call.

Founding client rate — until 31 March 2027

25% off every price below for work booked before 31 March 2027, in exchange for a reference call and a written case study once we are done — anonymised if you would rather. We are trading margin for proof, and saying so plainly.

These are ranges, not averages

An average is a number nobody pays. Each service below shows the band real jobs fall in, and the factors that decide where in the band yours lands.

The price is fixed before we start

You get one number for the piece of work, agreed in writing. If we underestimated, that is ours to wear. Changes get priced before they happen.

Assessment first, usually

Quoting a build blind means pricing in contingency you pay for. The assessment removes the guess, and comes off the project price if you proceed within 90 days.

Data migration

Moving data between systems, with evidence it arrived intact.

Migration readiness assessment

Before committing to a migration, find out what is actually in the source system, what will not map cleanly, and what the real effort is. You keep the findings whether or not we do the move.

$4,500

fixed

100% on booking

What moves the price

  • How many source systems are in scope
  • Whether anyone still understands the old system
  • How much history has to come across
  • Whether the data has ever been profiled

What a job at this price contains

One source system, up to three years of history, a written findings report and a fixed price against each remediation item. Five working days, about two hours of your team's time.

Finance system migration

Moving a small or mid-sized business onto Xero or MYOB, with balances that reconcile and history that survives. Chart of accounts, contacts, open items, transaction history.

$8,000 – $20,000

+ GST

50% to start, 50% on sign-off

What moves the price

  • Number of years of history to carry
  • How clean the chart of accounts is
  • Whether sub-ledgers and fixed assets are in scope
  • Whether the old system can export, or must be read directly

What a job at this price contains

One source system, two to three years of history, full trial-balance reconciliation and a signed-off cutover. Two to four weeks elapsed.

Legacy extract and archive

Getting data out of a system you are switching off, in a form that satisfies your retention obligations without paying to keep the old platform alive.

$15,000 – $45,000

+ GST

Thirds — start, midpoint, sign-off

What moves the price

  • Whether the system still runs and can still be licensed
  • Whether an export exists, or the database must be read directly
  • Retention period and what a regulator would need to see
  • Whether records need to stay queryable or only readable

What a job at this price contains

One legacy platform, documented record counts, a queryable archive and a destruction certificate for the working copies. Four to eight weeks.

Cloud platform migration

Moving data and workloads to AWS, Azure or Microsoft 365, with the region, lineage and reconciliation evidence worked out before anything moves rather than after.

$25,000 – $80,000

+ GST

Thirds — start, midpoint, sign-off

What moves the price

  • Number of systems and how tangled they are
  • Data residency and compliance obligations
  • How much downtime the business can tolerate
  • Whether the target platform is already stood up

What a job at this price contains

Three to five source systems, a staged cutover with a tested rollback, reconciliation evidence at each stage. Two to four months.

Power BI and Microsoft Fabric

Reporting people believe, and the platform underneath it.

Power BI health check

What is wrong with your reporting, what it costs to fix, and what to do first. A written plan you keep either way. This is the usual way to start.

$4,500

fixed

100% on booking

What moves the price

  • Number of workspaces and reports in the tenant
  • Whether a Fabric capacity is in play
  • How many disputed figures need tracing to source

What a job at this price contains

Full tenant inventory, model diagnostics, licence and capacity review, a prioritised remediation plan with a fixed price against each item, and a recorded walkthrough. Five days.

Report build

One well-built report on one reasonably clean source — the thing that gets asked for most and botched most.

$6,000 – $15,000

+ GST

50% to start, 50% on sign-off

What moves the price

  • How clean the source is, and whether it has been profiled
  • Number of pages and whether row-level security is needed
  • How many stakeholders have to agree on the definitions

What a job at this price contains

One source, three to five pages, a documented semantic model and a handover session. Two to three weeks.

Report rescue

Reports that are slow, that fail overnight, or that nobody believes any more. Usually a modelling problem rather than a Power BI problem.

$8,000 – $25,000

+ GST

50% to start, 50% on sign-off

What moves the price

  • Whether the model can be fixed or has to be rebuilt
  • Refresh window and how much data is involved
  • How far the numbers have drifted from source

What a job at this price contains

One problem model rebuilt, refresh brought inside its window, and at least one disputed number traced to source and reconciled. Three to five weeks.

Semantic model build

A properly designed model across several sources, so every report built on it afterwards agrees with every other one.

$20,000 – $45,000

+ GST

50% to start, 50% on sign-off

What moves the price

  • Number of sources and how consistently they define the same things
  • Whether row-level security is required, and how complex the rules are
  • Whether existing reports have to keep working during the change

What a job at this price contains

Three to five sources, a documented star schema, row-level security, three to five report pages and lineage documentation. Six to ten weeks.

Legacy report migration

SSRS, Tableau, Qlik, Crystal or BusinessObjects to Power BI — including deciding which reports deserve to survive the move.

$15,000 – $60,000

+ GST

Thirds — start, midpoint, sign-off

What moves the price

  • Number of reports, and how many are genuinely still used
  • Whether the original logic is documented anywhere
  • Whether numbers must match the old system exactly

What a job at this price contains

An inventory of what exists and what is actually opened, twenty to forty reports rebuilt, output reconciled against the old platform. Two to four months.

Fabric foundation

A lakehouse laid out properly the first time — medallion layers, pipelines, OneLake, and a capacity sized to what you actually run.

$40,000 – $90,000

+ GST

Thirds — start, midpoint, sign-off

What moves the price

  • Number and type of sources landing in the lakehouse
  • Whether near-real-time ingestion is genuinely needed
  • Capacity sizing and what it will cost you monthly
  • How much of it your team will run afterwards

What a job at this price contains

Bronze/silver/gold layers, five to ten ingestion pipelines, a governed semantic layer, capacity sizing with the monthly cost written down, and handover training. Three to five months.

After go-live

Care plan

Ongoing cover once something is live — monitoring, refresh failures, small changes, and a standing block of hours for whatever comes up.

$2,500 – $8,000

per month

Monthly in advance

What moves the price

  • How much is in production and how critical it is
  • Response time you need when a refresh fails
  • Hours of change work included each month

What it contains

Monitoring with alerting, named response times, and a block of change hours that roll over one month. Minimum three months, cancel with 30 days' notice.

How we are different

Where we sit against the bigger firms

They are good at what they do. They are also built for a different size of problem.

Price on application

Prices on this page

You can work out whether to call before you call. We would rather lose a bad fit in thirty seconds than in week three.

Day rates and a time-and-materials contract

A fixed price per piece of work

Overrun is our problem, not yours. That only works if scoping is taken seriously, which is why there is an assessment first.

Built for $250k+ programmes

Built for $5k–$90k jobs

Most New Zealand businesses have a $15,000 problem. Sending a $250k firm at it is how it ends up not being fixed at all.

Account manager, then a delivery team

The person who scoped it does it

No handover, and nothing lost between the person who understood the problem and the person doing the work.

A hundred-plus solutions, every sector

Migration, Power BI and Fabric

Narrower on purpose. Depth in the thing you actually need beats breadth across things you do not.

What we do not do

A short list, so you do not waste a call finding out.

Multi-year transformation programmes

If the answer is a $300k+ programme with a steering committee, we are the wrong size and we will say so on the first call — and point you at someone who is the right size.

Marketing automation and AI products

Recommendation engines, campaign platforms, chatbots. Adjacent to what we do, not what we do.

Licence resale

We take no margin on your Microsoft licensing, which is why the capacity review in a health check can honestly recommend spending less.

Pricing seniors and staffing juniors

The person who scopes your job is the person who does it. If a subcontractor is involved you will be told before they start, not discover it in a handover.

Straight answers about money

Why publish prices when nobody else does?

Because the first question in every head is 'can we afford this', and making people book a call to find out wastes their time and ours. The ranges are real: they come from a day-rate model, not from guessing what you might pay.

What makes a job land at the top of a range rather than the bottom?

Almost always the state of the data and the number of people who have to agree on definitions. Technical complexity is rarely the expensive part. The factors listed against each service are in roughly the order they move the price.

What if it costs more than quoted?

It does not. A fixed price is fixed. If we scoped it wrong, that is our mistake to absorb. If you change what you asked for, we price the change before doing it — in writing, and you decide.

Do I have to start with an assessment?

No, but it is usually cheaper. Quoting a build without knowing the state of the data means pricing in contingency for the worst case. The assessment removes that guess, and its cost comes off the project if you go ahead within 90 days.

Are these prices GST inclusive?

No. Every figure on this page is in New Zealand dollars and excludes GST.

Still not sure which one you need?

That is what the first call is for. Thirty minutes, no charge, and if the answer is that you do not need us we will say so.
